Low levels of refrigerant are the most common reason for air conditioners not working in cars. Air conditioning units are sealed systems that lose less than.5 ounces annually. The refrigerant travels then through high pressure lines to the condenser. Similar to a radiator in a vehicle, the condenser brings the liquid into the condenser to absorb the heat. The liquid is then pumped into the expansion valve, orifice tube. There it is limited and converted to a gaseous condition into the low-pressure A/C side.
